The lid is operated with a foot pedal and is virtually noiseless in operation, plus it seals tight, so it's odor-proof. It's double-hinged, so it can stay open if you want it to. The foot pedal mechanism has been thoroughly tested for years of trouble-free operation. The plastic rim on the bottom protects your floor and keeps the can from sliding around when you operate the foot pedal. Ventilation holes in the inner plastic bucket make it easy to fit a liner (Brabantia "G"-size fitted liners available separately). The retro can stands just under 29" tall and measures approx. 15" in diameter.
