The Moscow Mule was a 1941 creation, concocted by John G. Martin of Heublein Brothers, an east coast spirits distributor, and Jack Morgan, president of a company that made ginger beer, and proprietor of the Cock 'n Bull restaurant on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. The drink was most popular in L.A. in the 1940's and '50s. The most common recipe calls for two parts vodka, one part lime juice, and three parts ginger beer, shaken and served over ice in a copper mug. |
