Swiss Diamond is as good as it gets in non-stick cookware, the state of the art in performance, durability and convenience. The Wall Street Journal has referred to Swiss Diamond as the Rolls-Royce of non-stick cookware, perhaps a dated reference, but you know that they mean. First of all, the Swiss Diamond name means just what it says; Swiss Diamond is made in Switzerland and the Swiss Diamond HD non-stick finish includes real diamonds. Why diamonds? For three reasons; diamonds are extremely hard and durable, diamonds have natural non-stick properties, and diamonds conduct heat better than any metal, even copper. Diamonds are a natural for use in non-stick cookware.

Swiss Diamond pans are made of pressure-cast aluminum, for both fantastic heat distribution and for high strength without undue weight. The bottoms are perfectly flat to maximize burner contact and Swiss Diamond pans will not warp. The bottoms are thick, the walls are thin to reduce weight, and the rims are thick to minimize drips when pouring. They're excellent pans even before the non-stick finish enters the discussion. The finish, Swiss Diamond HD (for high density), starts with a 20,000 degree plasma coating that seals the aluminum pan from the cooking surface. Then the Swiss Diamond HD finish, with more than 200,000 nano-composite diamond crystals in every pan, is applied. The diamonds are more than twice as hard as stainless steel and four times more heat conductive than copper. The diamond crystals form a virtually indestructable non-stick surface that will not crack, blister or peel. It's all so good that Swiss Diamond cookware carries a limited lifetime warranty.

Even the details are well done; Swiss Diamond handles are carefully shaped to be extremely comfortable and are made of Bakelite, a thermo-plastic that's oven-safe to 500 degrees F. The tempered-glass lids feature a vent that opens and closes with a flick of the wrist, a really handy feature when simmering.

Swiss Diamond cookware is safe for use with metal utensils, although metal utensils can make marks in the finish that are cosmetic only; if that is a concern, stick to wood or silicone tools. And Swiss Diamond pans are dishwasher safe, with the caveat that dishwashers are extremely harsh environments and something flying around inside could cause damage.
