Unlike any other citrus press we've seen, the Breville citrus press uses an electric motor to assist you in pressing the fruit. Not only does the motor spin the juicing cone, but it assists you in applying pressure with the long juicing arm. Breville calls this an "active arm" and what it does is make juicing citrus fruit a whole lot easier, particularlly if you;re making a lot of juice.That's because the motor does the pressing intead of your muscles applying the pressure. One reviewer on the Breville website illustrates this to an extreme. "Last year we had nearly 400 pink grapefruit on our tree. We juiced aroung 10-11 gallons and I don't know how we could have done it without our Breveille citrus press. We would run it for more than an hour in assembly-line fashion. The Breville citrus press is "robust and durable" because, for one thing, robust and durable is what Breville does, and for another, because the base is entirely die-cast metal and the juicing cone and filters are stainless steel. The stainless spout flips up to ensure no drips and there are two stainless filters, so you can adjust the amount of fruit pulp that goes in your juice. Breville's unique Quadra-Fin juicing cone ensures that every drop of juice is extracted from all citrus fruit, from the smallest lime to the largest grapefruit. For safety, the active arm will not engage and the juicing cone will not spin until unless the arm is lowered and pressure is applied to the cone.
